2022 Youth Riding Program - Calgary Area

Selected Youth Girls (ages 12 - 17) will have the opportunity to be part of a group of like minded young woman and their horses to partcipant in no cost riding lessons and learn about the Equestrian Sport of Eventing, near Priddis, Alberta every Monday in June 2022.

CEDF offers  Sport of Eventing introductory riding lessons to Youth Girls (ages 12 - 17) every Monday night in June, 2022:

Theory:  

• Youth will learn about the three phases of eventing, conditioning, grooming, feeding, bandaging, and horse care.  

Practical:  

• Youth and their horses will be exposed to dressage, showjumping, cross country:  riding on terrain, low-level/beginner jumps, ditches, banks, water.  

Skill requirements:  

• This is an introductory lesson series - no experience in Eventing is required.
• Riders must however be able to safely walk, trot, canter, and hault on their own.

Youth will need to ensure they are able to bring the following to the lessons:

• A Sound and Safe Horse for the Participant's age/stage/ability
• Appropriate Safe English Tack 
• Riding Attire and Equipment including riding boots, helmet, vest (may be able to provide upon request)
• Participants must have a valid 2022 AEF Membership (Alberta Equestrian Federation) for insurance purposes.  For participants without memberships, CEDF may assist you in obtaining the AEF membership. 

Application Process

There is no cost to this program however there are limited placements.  Participants will be admited on an application basis.   CEDF will strives to select applicants with lessor ability to access lessons, with a desire to ride and learn about equestrian sport.  Please complete the application as fully as possible.  CEDF will follow up to discuss your application and confirm your registration.
