Celebrating a Year of Growth, Grit, and Leadership: Gabrielle Shank
The Canadian Eventing Development Foundation (Canadian Eventing Development Foundation) is proud to recognize Gabrielle Shank for an exceptional year defined by competitive success, leadership, and meaningful contributions to the Canadian eventing community.
Athlete Progress & Competitive Excellence
This past year marked a major milestone in Gabrielle’s athletic career. Her dedication to training, performance consistency, and long-term development was recognized nationally when she was named to the Equestrian Canada U25 Development Team—an achievement that highlights her potential as a future leader in high-performance eventing.
At the provincial level, Gabrielle’s commitment and results were further acknowledged when she was awarded Alberta Horse Trials Rider of the Year, a testament to her consistency, horsemanship, and competitive excellence throughout the season.
An Award-Winning Partnership
A standout highlight of the year was the continued success of Gabrielle’s partnership with her horse, Billy. Their trust, teamwork, and shared development were celebrated when Billy was named Eventing Horse of the Year, an honour that reflects not only competitive results, but also exceptional care, training, and partnership.
Together, Gabrielle and Billy exemplify the balance of athleticism, horsemanship, and mutual respect that lies at the heart of eventing.
Leadership Beyond the Start Box
Gabrielle’s impact extends well beyond competition. Throughout the year, she remained deeply involved with CEDF, supporting clinics, athlete development initiatives, events, and
communications. Her behind-the-scenes contributions have helped strengthen programming and foster connection across the Canadian eventing community.
She also continues to apply her academic and professional expertise in marketing, communications, and digital strategy to equestrian-focused organizations—bridging sport, leadership, and industry in a way that benefits riders and organizations alike.
Academic & Professional Achievement
Alongside her riding career, Gabrielle has continued to excel academically, successfully balancing post-secondary studies with high-performance sport. Her ability to translate classroom learning into real-world application demonstrates strong leadership capability, strategic thinking, and professionalism.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Gabrielle’s achievements this year reflect more than ribbons and titles—they represent resilience, growth, and a commitment to giving back. As an athlete, student, and leader, she embodies the values CEDF strives to support and promote within Canadian eventing.
CEDF is proud to celebrate Gabrielle Shank’s accomplishments and looks forward to supporting her continued journey as she builds toward the next stage of her career.
Congratulations, Gabrielle, on an outstanding and well-earned year of success.
